CALDO DE SUEÑOS- DREAM SOUP

Pots that dance, rice that sings, pans that speak and fire that recites. Valentina gives a voice to daily domestic tools, through her pots and pans she expresses every day living  of Mexican women. Her main source of inspiration is the indigenous culture of her country, Mexico.

Caldo de Sueños ( Dream Soup) is a wonderful collage of poetry in native Mexican languages (nahuatl, zapoteco), with daring percussive pieces played on different sets all formed by kitchen tools. It is a one hour show which presents several musical pieces  that combine texts and music composed and written by Valentina Ortiz.

Valentina´s music is an ode to Mexican women, to their sensibility, their force of spirit, their sense of humor regardless of their difficult living conditions. Caldo de Sueños honors the life ritual performed every day in the kitchen, the miracle of perpetuated life through the preparation of food.

Further more by making music with daily use tools Valentina confirms that all sound produced in our environment can become music, that all movement is a dance and above all, that any human being has the possibility of expressing his/her feelings through art, by singing, dancing or making music with his/her …pots and pans.

DREAM SOUP GOES TO VERACRUZ
Dream Soup with its´ special guest percussionist Aaron Delgadillo, participated in the Bocafest. The presentation took place in the very romantic setting of the Veracruz seaside. It was a great success.
