Within the walls of what once was the terrifying jail house of the Spanish Inquisition in Mexico, Valentina Ortiz and Marconio wove 4 stories about what this historical period meant for the country´s history. They adapted the historical facts into 4 light stories which can make you laugh, dream and imagine one of the worst sides of the Spanish conquest in our country.

Valentina and Marconio, for three months, reminded us how ideas and words cannot be forced to disappear in any way, there is no fire or torture that can make an idea to disappear. They told us how the cat and the donkey that lived in the building of the Inquisition were amazed of the human beings´ actions. The storytellers remembered the so called witches who proved to be stronger than the torture and punishment of the “Inquisidores” , how these women were capable of fleeing the walls of the jail and torture chambers thanks to their strong will and capacity to dream.
So spoke the Secret Stories of the Spanish Inquisition in Mexico every Saturday during the months of  April, May and June 2009 in the Palace of Inquisition in Mexico city.

Always beating the drum we  remember de story of how  a woman called maria invented the first Marimba.

We can tell you why flies cannot speack or how a small beach crab managed to fly from a tree. Many people saw the truth and  he  lie walking hand in hand throughout the región, yet very few knew what they were saying as they strolled. Do you know how the flamingos got their socks or if the bird of freedom will ever be defeated?
