Zazanilli, cuentos viajeros a.c. works with the young women from the coyoacan community centers.
The Zazanilli team of story tellers and writers were commissioned by the government of Mexico city to work with the young female students of the Community Centers of the underprivileged neighborhoods of Santa Ursula and of Carmen Serdán in the Coyoacan municipality.
We worked with these women students in their class rooms for several weeks and from these encounters wrote stories representing their urban every day life. We discovered very brave, very creative human beings in these women; we saw the harsh social-economic reality they are faced with and how in the middle of this dark panorama they are capable of finding small bright rays of light, of hope.
Zazanilli published these stories in three books which were handed to the women who inspired them, as an effort of strengthening their personal and collective identity. We also held a series of story telling presentations with these stories for the women and their comunity. |
